Deveney, Mary Elizabeth
Predeceased by her loving husband Roger, and son, Charles. Survived by her children Mary Slathe (Deveney), Roger (Pam) Deveney, John Deveney, Michael (Diane) Deveney, Ann (Duane) Debejian, daughter-in-law, Gina Deveney. Grandchildren: Todd, Jacob, Elizabeth, Matthew, Alexandra, Rachel, Rory, Ryan, Ian, Bridget, Timothy, Colin, Jayne, Kyle, and Julia. Great Grandchildren Noah, Ethan, Shelby, Chase, Haley, and Camille. Great, Great Grandchildren Caine and Carter.
Betty was a communicant at St. John’s of Rochester from the time she moved to Pittsford in 1968, where she was also a eucharistic minister.
Betty loved volunteering. With her husband, Roger they volunteered at Strong Hospital and she looked forward to volunteering at the Rochester LPGA Golf Tournament each year. She was a devoted supporter of the Carmelite Chapel.
Betty had the gift of gab and loved the time she spent with her many groups of friends going to luncheons, dinners, and parties. These included “The Girls” from the Monroe Community College Business Department where she work for a number of years, the Musket Lane neighbors, the Army’s 98th Division group and the Tuesday coffee hour group that met at Tim Horton’s from St. John of Rochester.
Anyone who knew Betty, knew of her love for Tom Brady and all sports from Boston including the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins. Her love of sports was also known on the Pittsford Mendon football field where she was famous for running the sidelines to get to the end zone to meet Charlie when he scored a touchdown.
Betty will be missed by her loving family and the many friends.
Calling Hours held Thursday from 1-3 at the Richard H Keenan Funeral Home (Egypt Location) 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Road, Fairport. Funeral Mass held Friday 12 noon at St. John of Rochester.

Betty always had a smile on her face. She loved life! She volunteered in the St. John of Rochester parish office where she brightened everyone’s day!
Betty was a wonderful mother who loved her children dearly. I always enjoyed visiting with her and Roger when dating Mike, and While at Pittsford Mendon High functions including those football games and plays. She had a long life filled with love from her devoted children, and she will be missed!
Both of us remember Betty from the 98th division, and, of course, her deceased husband, Roger. Many functions we attended with them. Good times! Our sympathy to her family. Dick and Joan Wood

Lovely lady. Such a good sport when teased about her Boston about my dislike for Tom Brady and the Red Sox.. Will fondly remember she and Roger.
Betty was the dearest friend anyone could have. I’m happy to have had her part of my life for so many years.

For many years I was part of her Tim Horton Tuesday morning support group , graciously welcomed though I wAs the only one who belonged to another parish. When people asked me what the group was about —-my answer was “everything “. I am sure all her friends will understand that the mood could depend on what Tom Brady had done the previous Sunday. Betty brought kindness and joy to many. We were blessed by being with her.
We were sorry to hear of Betty’s passing. She and Roger were so much a part of our 98th Division family and regulars at social events. Our sincerest condolences to the family.
I do remember Roger & Betty’s wonderful accents. Roger got me into the 1159th USARF School to teach 12B, and away from the NYARNG.
Such a wonderful pair-Betty and Roger. I worked for Roger while in the 1159th. Later, as members of the 391st Regt Officers Assn. , Judy and I had great times at Assn outings at the ball park, Christmas parties and other functions. We will miss her smile and quick wit. Betty and Roger are together again. Rest in peace our dear friends.
