Donna’s life was defined by a fierce passion for three things: family, faith, and Fairport.  She was a loyal supporter of her 3 sons’ and 9 grandchildren’s athletic events and other extracurricular performances.  Faith for Donna included daily mass attendance at The Church of the Assumption in Fairport, nearly 30 years of involvement with the Pre-Cana team, and serving as a Eucharistic minister. Donna significantly impacted the Fairport community through her 12 year history of elected office as a Fairport Village Trustee, decades of membership on the Fairport Office of Community and Economic Development (OCED) board, and multiple joint board committees. For a decade, Donna worked as an Assistant Guidance Counselor at Johanna Perrin School. Until she died, Donna served tirelessly on Fairport’s Dollars for Scholars Board shepherding significant growth as Scholarship Chair. Her dedication to Fairport was recognized when she was honored as Citizen of the Year in 2005.  She continues her commitment to improving the lives of others through the donation of her body to the Anatomical Gift Program at the University of Rochester Medical School.

It is with such sadness that we say farewell to Donna. For the past 11 yrs. we had the privilege of being in her presence at a 6:45 am Mass at COTA. She always had a twinkle in her eye as she sauntered into the chapel often commenting on something funny to begin our day. She always made me feel good after finishing a Communion Service giving me a positive vibe for a job well done. I so appreciated her kind words. Phil, we will be there to support you through this difficult time – we are a family of faith.

I am so shocked, and deeply saddened! Donna was such a special person. She helped me so when my mom was struggling. Dan and my brother were best of friends. Donna always showed her grace, support, strength, and love. Even though I didn’t see her often, when I did she always had a positive presence. I feel such a loss, and send my love, and sympathy to the family!

Donna will always represent a life well lived to me. I only had the privilege of knowing her for 3 years through Dollars for Scholars, but she made a real impression on me. She was incredibly intelligent, hard working, and fun. She had a ready smile, warm eyes, and a comforting laugh. I’m thankful I will know her in my heart all my life, and she will continue to inspire me as I attempt to emulate her true greatness. My deepest sympathy to friends and family.

We shared 10+ years on the pre-Cana team with Phil and Donna. They are so life-giving spirit centered joyful and wise beyond words. So much gratitude in our hearts that we have shared so much of their life including many invitations to their beautiful Sodus home which was always open filled with love and caring. We walk with you Phil and your family knowing Donna is with the God she so loved. You are both a wonderful example to us. Love from Barb and Bob Finsterwalder

My heart is broken. Donna was a mentor, role model and friend. I will miss her passion for life but mostly her big heart. Shaun and I extend our deepest condolences to Phil and their family during this difficult time. May we all love each other the way that Donna loved Phil and her family.
