Thomsen, Robert P. “Handsome Bob”

Fairport: 88 years old. Survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy; his beloved children, Peter (Roseann) Blake, Tracy (James) Benjamin and Thane. Also 6 loved grandchildren, Jesse Pascoe, Hayden and Haley Thomsen, and Justin, Troy, and Taylor Benjamin; his sisters, Alice Bradford, June Auten, and Dorothy Little. Also many loved nieces, nephews, in-laws and friends. He is predeceased by his father, Henry; his mother, Alice; his brothers, Howard and Henry; nephews and brother and sister-in-laws.

Bob grew up in Rochester, happily spending his summers at his family’s cottage at Otisco Lake. After graduating from West High School during WWII, Bob enlisted in the United States Air Corps, Where he proudly piloted the B-17 and B-29. After his discharge, he met and married Dottie. Upon receiving his diploma from Syracuse University, they moved to Boston for 3 memorable years before returning to Rochester to raise their family. While raising their family, he coached Little League and was a Boy Scout Leader for many years.

Bob had a zest for life and everything he did. He was an avid sailor and Martini connoisseur. If you were lucky enough to know Bob, He made an impact on your life. When asked how he was, his reply was always “Fantastic”. He was fantastic and will be very much missed by many.

No prior calling hours. A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at Mountain Rise United Church of Christ at 11AM on Friday November 23, followed by lunch at Flaherty’s Restaurant on Route 31, Macedon. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Hospice of Rochester or a charity of your choice.
