Strong, Jr., Frank Peck

Fairport, NY/Boca Grande, FL: Frank Peck Strong, Jr., age 81, passed peacefully on July 20, 2017 after a 5-year battle with aplastic anemia (an autoimmune disease) which he fought with courage and grace. Born October 5, 1935 in Woodbury, Connecticut to Frank P. Strong and Evelyn Wheeler Strong, he graduated from Dartmouth College with a BA in engineering, followed by Masters degrees in engineering and business administration from the Tuck-Thayer School of Business. One week later he married Barbara Bavier and they celebrated 60 years of marriage in June.

Frank worked for Kodak for 35 years, serving as group vice president and general manager of the Commercial Imaging Group, and spending four years in Australia as the chairman and CEO of Kodak Australasia. He also headed Kodak’s portfolio of venture investments. Following his retirement from Kodak, he applied his venture management experience as a founding member and General Partner of Trillium Group.

At Trillium, he served a term as its Managing Partner and led a number of due diligence teams. He also joined, as a Trillium representative, several private company boards that had received investment capital from Trillium.

Frank chaired the boards of the Visiting Nurses and Keuka College. His 30-year association with Keuka College included chairing and serving on the Board of Trustees, and serving as the Interim President in 1995 and 1997. He received the distinction of trustee emeritus, and received a Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Keuka in 2005.

Frank was a proud Eagle Scout and served many positions with the Boy Scouts over the years – he was past President of the Otetiana Council, and a member of the Seneca Waterways Executive Committee and Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

He was preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law E. Reed Wilbur. He is survived by his best friend and devoted wife, Barbara. He also leaves his biggest accomplishment, his children – Sally Wilbur of Hampton, New Hampshire, Lisa and Daland Juberg of Indianapolis, and Doug and Jenny Strong of Penfield. He was Grampie/Papa to his pride and joys – Regan and Chris Wilbur, Eric and Laura Juberg, and Marshall, Meghan, and Sarah Strong. He also leaves a sister, Nancy Jefferson of Glastonbury, Connecticut and his cousin David Strong of Woodbury, Connecticut.

There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at First Congregational UCC in Fairport, NY on Friday, July 28th at 11am.

The family is eternally grateful for the care and friendship provided by the medical staff of the Wilmot Cancer Center over the past 5 years. We are forever indebted to the compassionate staff of the Strong Hospital 8-3400 ICU and the Wilmot Infusion Center.

Donations can be made in Frank’s memory to the Wilmot Cancer Center, the Boy Scouts of America Seneca Waterways Council, or to Keuka College. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, Fairport.
