Judy grew up in the village of Pittsford, where she lived with her loving parents Grace and Gerald and her younger sister, Kathie. Childhood memories of friends from Pittsford, and the family’s cottage on Keuka Lake filled her favorite stories. A love of learning and children would take Judy to Geneseo where she earned a degree in teaching, which would be her profession for over 30 years. A talented, caring, respected and committed professional, Judy would spend her entire career teaching in Victor Schools. Some of her most lasting and important friendships came from her teaching days.

When not teaching others’ children, she was raising her own, as Kevin and Julie arrived in the early seventies. The Village of Fairport would be their home for several years, and Fairport made a lasting impression on Judy and her family. The family moved into the house Judy would call home for the rest of her life, in 1977. The cozy grey house on a rise near the end of Killdeer Lane-also in Fairport- would be the site of so many wonderful memories. She navigated the challenging teenage years of her kids with a deft touch and gentle wisdom that characterized her approach to life. Judy was a kind and generous person. She always put others before herself, particularly in the selflessness she demonstrated in putting her kids through college.

In retirement, with the encouragement of Herb-her dear friend and devoted companion for 35 years-Judy discovered a love of travel, as the two of them did their best to visit every corner of the country. Whether visiting with friends or relatives in North Carolina, Arizona or Florida or vacationing in Hawaii or Wyoming with dear friends their trips were often the highlight of their year. Faith was also important to Judy, particularly over the last 20 years, as she was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Victor. Spending time with her three grandchildren-Haley, Nicholas and Aiden-was another of her favorite things. The feeling was more than mutual as Grandma could put a smile on their faces like no one else. Judy cherished those moments with family and friends throughout her life, and was happy to be able to spend time with so many in recent weeks.

My sincerest sympathy to Judy’s family including Cathy and her family for Judy’s passing. Judy and I were school mates at Pittsford Schools from kindergarten through 12th grade. I remember her as always being a very kind and considerate person. She is now well and at peace with our Lord.
