Fairport: US Army Veteran died peacefully on October 6, 2017 at age 84.

 

 

In North Carolina with his family gathered. Born June 4, 1933 in Sidney, NY, Bob was the first son of Genevieve (Bradstreet) and Joseph (Judy) M. King. He spent most of his youth in Hornell, NY, attended St. Ann’s School and graduated from Hornell High School in 1951. He attended Harper College in Binghamton, NY briefly before enlisting in the US Army and serving in Stuttgart, Germany from 1953-1955 with an honorable discharge. After his military service Bob enrolled in Alfred University where he graduated in 1960 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics. On June 29, 1957, Bob married his high school sweetheart Marjorie Louise (Van Order) at St. Ann’s Church in Hornell. He was a devoted husband, avid dance partner and loving caregiver to Marjorie who passed away on May 19, 1997 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Bob and Marjorie were proud parents of 3 daughters and a son and Communicants of Assumption of Our Lady Church in Fairport, NY. Bob ‘s early career was in the insurance industry working for Aetna in Ohio and Uniguard Insurance Company in Jamestown, NY. In 1984 Bob and his son Bob established Applied Digital Systems in Fairport, NY, a computer re-seller/systems integrator. Bob served as President of the company for 16 years. During his retirement years, Bob enjoyed spending time with family especially sports games, piano recitals and school plays with his grandchildren, playing golf and vacations in Seabrook Island, SC. He loved swing music, family travel trips, a game of poker and a yuengling.
He is survived by his son, Robert and wife Beth of Rochester NY; daughters, Karen and husband Gary Schneider of Pittsfield, MA, Judith and husband Greg Moyer of Durham, NC and Linda of Johns Island, SC; other survivors include 9 grandchildren, Elizabeth and Abby King, Olivia, Tara and Chloe Schneider, Erin and Emily Donnell, Marjorie Moyer and Joshua Pugsley; 1 great-grandchild, Parker Hartman; several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by brother, Joe and a sister, Mary both of Rochester, NY; and sisters-in-law, Linda Congelli and Teddy Ormsby. Bob was predeceased by his wife, parents and a sister, Anne.
A Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 9:30 AM at Assumption of Our Lady Church, 20 East Avenue, Fairport, NY. Visitation and Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 435 E. Henrietta Road, Rochester, NY 14620. Arrangements entrusted to Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home.
