Fairport: February 24, 2016. Predeceased by his parents, Dr. John C. Hecker Sr. and Ruth A. Hecker. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet; children, Kenneth Hecker and Lisa (Donald) Footer; grandchildren, Brianna Bieler, Zachary and Kyle Footer; siblings, A. Scott Hecker and Amy Hecker (Howard Decker); other family members and many friends.

John served in the United States Air Force and graduated from Hobart College. He was employed at Gleason Works for over 50 years.

No prior calling. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday 2 PM at the First Congregational Church of Fairport, 26 East Church St. Fairport, NY. 14450. In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donations to the Endowment Fund of the First Congregational Church of Fairport. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Neuromedicine ICU at Strong Memorial Hospital.

    Jan and Family,

    My most profound sympathies.

    I worked with John for many years and always enjoyed seeing his smiling face.

    He was a dedicated worker, family man, and church goer.

    I will miss him considerably.

    He was one of the nicest people I have ever known.

    But mostly, he was my friend.

    I met john at the George Eastman Museum a few years back. We had a mutual friend Ann Britt, a docent at the museum. Although I didn’t know him well, I could tell John was a real gentleman and a good friend to many. I will miss when he would come in with his sister to enjoy a coffee and time together in the cafe.I am sorry for your loss.
