Harp, William A.

Fairport: Together again forever. Bill & Virginia Harp, they recently celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Virginia passed away in July of 2015. Born Aug. 4th, 1930, Bill was the only son and youngest in a family of 6 children to Lebanese immigrants, Bulus & Helen Harp. Shortly after graduating from Whitesboro High School outside of Utica, NY, with accomplishments in football and basketball, he married his high school sweetheart Virginia Zientek on Sept. 1, 1951. In 1966, he moved his family– a wife and 4 sons– to Fairport, NY, after accepting a position with the Xerox Corporation. The youngest son Richard was born soon afterward. Bill and Virginia were enthusiastic fans during their sons‘ academic and sports activities. Bill took advantage of an early retirement offer from Xerox in order to spend more time at home with his family.

Bill enjoyed working around the house with Virginia. Together they were regulars at the diners and restaurants in the area, and at the Perinton Recreation Center. Bill also enjoyed playing golf with family & friends, but nothing compared to the joy he felt with Virg by his side in the golf cart.

William A. Harp passed comfortably at Highland Hospital, with family by his side, less than six months after the departure of his one and only lifelong love.

Bill is survived by his five sons: William, Paul, Peter (Janet), Robert (Regina) and Richard (Sharon); 4 grandchildren, Holly Ann Kasprzak (Chris), Adam, Andrew & Nicholas Harp. He was predeceased by his sisters, Mary, Jenny, Vivian, Katie & Nora. We are thankful for the dedicated care he received from Dr. Jodi Ram and the 7th Floor staff at Highland Hospital.

Calling hours, Tuesday, 4-7 PM at the Richard H. Keenan Funeral Home, 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd., Fairport (Egypt location). Funeral Mass, Wednesday, 10 AM at St. John of Rochester Church (Fairport). Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

It is with great sadness that Jean and I mourn the passing of Bill and Virginia. When our daughter Regina married Bob and became the proud parents of our precious grand sons Adam, Andrew and Nicolas we were privileged to have spent many joyous moments with the Harps on their visits to North Carolina to visit the boys. Bill and Virginia were gracious hosts when we spent a couple days with them in Fairport on our return from a vacation to the Canadian Maritime Provinces a few years ago. My only regret is that we were not able to fulfill our plans to meet with them half way between Fairport and Chesapeake for a friendly Grand-Parent golf match. God Bless you Bill and we know that you are now happy to be with the love of your life. Jean and I Will miss you.

For all of us who knew Bill and Virginia our lives are richer for it. Bill was a good friend and shared my passion for golf. We miss both deeply
