Harp, Virginia Z.

Fairport: At age 85, a resident of Fairport passed away July 29, 2015. Virginia was born in Utica, NY on February 24, 1930. She was the daughter of Mary Zientek and stepfather, William Irons. She graduated from Utica Free Academy High School where she served as Captain of the 1948 Cheer Leading Team. She led the team to winning the Oneida County Leagues title.

Virginia was employed by First National Bank in Utica upon graduating from High School and was very active in many things there for a number of years. In addition to some special projects. she was very active in their bowling league. Her primary focus after leaving her bank job was raising her 5 sons. She married William A. Harp on September 1, 1951 at St. Louis Gonzaga Church in Utica. NY. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill; 5 sons, William, Paul, Peter (Janet), Robert (Regina), and Richard (Sharon); 4 grandchildren. Holly Ann Kasprzak (Chris), Adam, Andrew, and Nicholas Harp; sister, Lucy Torres (Jack); several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Jackie Irons.

We are thankful for the care Virginia received from Dr. Jane Leisveld, Kelly, Molly, Maryanne, and the nursing staff of the Wilmot Cancer Center. Sincere appreciation is given for the outstanding care and support of Kierra Edwards, Liz, Emily, Alex, James Mathews, and Joan.

Calling hours Monday, August 3rd. 4-7 PM at Richard H.. Keenan Funeral Home. 7501 Pittsford Palmyra Rd.(Egypt location), Fairport. Her Funeral Mass will be Tuesday. 1 PM at St John of Rochester Church (Fairport). After the burial, the family will return to the church to visit and thank those that attended the Mass.
