Biography of Roger’s Life

Born: August 9, 1929 in Casselman, ON Canada. Roger was one of eight siblings to Henry and Simone Drouin. He married Menka, in August of 1968, and had 6 children between them. Roger was also a Grandfather and Great Grandfather to many.

Roger moved to Rochester from Canada in 1952, and worked with his brothers at Rays Roofing and Siding that later became Hi-Qual Roofing and Siding. In 1968, he began working as a machine repairman for the bottle and can lines at Genesee Brewery where he retired from in 1992. Roger was very proud of his years at “The Brewery” and would tell anyone who would listen, to only drink “Genny” beer.

In 1992, at the age of 63, Roger enrolled in Lee County Community College and received his certificate in Small Engine Repair, which he enjoyed immensely. You would often find Roger in his garage tinkering and fixing anything with a small engine.

At the age of 70, he went and got his motorcycle license and became an avid rider, with several motorcycles. In 2002, he bought his first Harley Davidson, a “883 sportster”, which was his pride and joy.

Roger led an amazing life and put family above all else. His other passions included dancing, fishing, boating, walking, playing cards and traveling with family.

The Drouin family would like to thank the first responders, Mercy Flight and the entire Trauma ICU Department at Strong Memorial Hospital for their dedication, care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Mercy Flight or to first responders in Macedon and or Walworth ambulance, police and fire.
