De Seyn, Carole (Hesselman)

Fairport: November 24, 2012 at the age of 64. After a long battle with cancer she passed away peacefully at the Advent House. Born July 14, 1948 to Arthur and Barbara (Watkins) Hesselman, she grew up in Canton, Ohio, summered in Fair Haven, NY and moved to Rochester in her early 20’s to be closer to her beloved summer home. After getting her Master’s Degree from St. John Fisher College at the age of 50, she became a Reading Specialist and taught in the Penfield School District for 9 years. The final summer of her life was spent at Fair Haven on the water surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Carole is survived by her daughter, Amy De Seyn; mother, Barbara Hesselman of Chapel Hill, NC; John De Seyn; sister, Cathy (Hunter) Allen of Atlanta, GA; brother, Donald Hesselman of Beaufort, NC, and sister-in-law, Mary Kay De Seyn of Fairport, NY; as well as countless friends.

The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Nimish Mohile and Jennifer Serventi, P.A. of the Wilmot Cancer Center and the devoted volunteers of Advent House. Calling hours Friday November 30th, 5-8 at the Egypt Location. A Special Ceremony of Remembrance will be held Saturday, December 1st, 11AM at the Immanuel Baptist Church, 815 Park Ave., Rochester, NY. An additional Ceremony is planned for next summer in Fair Haven, NY. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Advent House or Rochester’s Battle Against Cancer Gala sponsored by the Wilmot Cancer Center and taking place January 19, 2013 at the Strathallen Hotel.
