Kathy Crumrine was born Kathleen Ann Simmons in 1947 to Kathrine and Howard Simmons, growing up in the 19th Ward, downtown Rochester. As a child, she took a mothering role to her four younger siblings – Howie, Jane, Paul, and Michael – always ensuring they were taken care of. That love for children extended into adolescence, with the goal of becoming a teacher. Through hard work and dedication, she graduated with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education after attending Monroe Community College and SUNY Geneseo. With this success under her belt, she achieved her goal by landing a Kindergarten teaching position at St. Pius X School in Rochester. She was loved by parents and students alike during her time but wanted to take her vocation to the next level, and so began taking night classes at Geneseo, while teaching at Pius, earning her Master’s in Education after 5 years.

In November 1977, she married Robert Crumrine, making a home in East Rochester. The couple celebrated the birth of their first child, daughter Priscilla Ann, in May 1979, and then a son, Stephen Michael, in August 1981. The family moved to Fairport in 1985. Kathy was a dedicated mother, ensuring her children got to music lessons, art lessons, youth groups, and sports, continuously supporting the kids & their interest. She enjoyed numerous family vacations through the eastern US and Canada, traveling to England, Western Canada, and Austria to visit her daughter.

Her own hobbies revolved around horticulture, tending a home garden and holding the position of Vice President of the Fairport Garden Club, responsible for their month program.

At Kathy’s core was her unshakable faith, throughout life’s trials & tribulations. She joined the Resurrection parish after moving to Fairport, as a dedicated member, leading the Liturgical Arts committee, showcasing her artistic talents for years, along with being a loved and invaluable part of the Women’s Group and Stephen Ministry.
