Kevin Carson born in Buffalo, NY, March 27, 1954, attended St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute. The family then moved to Fairport NY in 1969, where he attended Fairport High School, graduating in 1972. At Fairport High School Kev played football and lacrosse, was President of his junior class, President of the Red & White Fraternity his senior year, and made the best of the best lifelong friends. After graduation Kevin hit the road, hitchhiking to Florida. Eventually he hopped on his motorcycle and drove cross country, finally settling in Key West where he attended Key West Community College, and studied oceanography with the intent of being the next Jacques Cousteau. This quickly transitioned into making jewelry in Ft. Lauderdale, and then on to flipping pancakes at Ho Jo’s.

In the early 80’s he joined his fathers business, The Nellson Agency, and took a position in national yellow page advertising sales. While living in Macedon, Kevin was blessed by the birth of his only child and namesake, Kevin II. Kevin and Kathryn were married in 2000, and purchased the house of their dreams, The Red Brick House, where he spent most of his time in the GARDEN. In 2005 Kevin and Kathryn purchased a landmark building also in Canandaigua NY, built in the 1800’s where they spent two years renovating it into a lovely B&B, The Red Door Inn, opening in 2007.

Everyone considered Kev their best friend, which is a tribute to his charismatic personality. There were even a couple four legged one’s, which he missed very much, Shane & Shannon. There wasn’t any project he didn’t get started, many of them still exist, a broken sail mast, a little red MG. His projects were always able to be put on hold, as he was always the first one to lend a helping hand to others.

At family gatherings, we learned early on never to assign him an appetizer. He was much better at arriving in time for dessert! But like many of his high school buddies, he was always sure to show up.

He always said “It’s not the destination, it’s the journey” – Did he get that from Aunt Lois or Uncle Chuck?

So sorry to see/hear of Kevin’s passing. I did not know him very well, but the few times I did meet him I so enjoyed talking with him especially about the GARDEN. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
